The UK has enjoyed plenty of beautiful Barcelona-type weather in recent weeks and Cheltenham has never been more beautiful!

What better way to welcome in the sun rays than to redecorate your home accordingly? Walking around town, we can easily see what styles are hitting us this summer – bold colours are in, which is something that makes a certain Maddie very happy! I am loving the hot pink skirts flailing around town and the bright blouses that are catching everyone’s eyes.

Inject summer into your home with colourful ceilings and light curtains
One interesting way of making the home seem more summery and injecting some colour is to paint your ceiling. I know, it’s a little risky. But think about your colour-ings carefully and you could have something bright and beautiful!

Why not try and change up your living room by replacing your curtains? Thick and heavy curtains can make a dark room seem dull and oppressive. By switching them up to some lighter and brighter curtains, the whole essence of the room can be changed. Coming down in the morning will be more appealing if the room is already light before you even open the curtains.

Summer is one of my favourite seasons, and I want my home to reflect how I’m feeling. As always, I’d like to show you a DIY way of brightening up your home. Going along the theme of colours, I had an idea which will instantly make you feel more summery – an umbrella wreath.

DIY umbrella wreath
I know what you’re thinking – I’ve lost the plot! But they look great and they’re so easy to make. It’s like celebrating Christmas but summer style. Have a go yourself and it will make you feel happier every time you come home from work.

  • When the umbrella is standing up straight, tie a ribbon around the middle of it. Make sure to tie it tight! The spot where you tie the ribbon determines where the bottom of the ‘vase’ begins.
  • Arrange the flowers in the top of the umbrella. These flowers do not have to be real! Use about 24 total stems, to get a fuller ‘vase’.
  • Voila! Enjoy.
