Wedding bells and sunny spells means the busiest time of the year for weddings. So much planning and expense goes into the big day and new trends have really taken off this year. Frankly, it is hard to keep up with the latest online crazes, yet many couples seem to want to be part of this new type of wedding. Let’s explore just some of what is considered ‘trendy’ for the 2025 season.

Content creators
The decision to hire wedding content creators has increased significantly in popularity with enquiries for videographers, and the like, booming in the last few years. Couples seek not just a photographer, but one who works with creators to capture unedited moments of the special day and combine these with official, polished photos, offering couples a more natural, authentic memory of the event.

New trends
In striving to host the ‘wedding of the year’ and leaving their guests talking about their day for years to come, couples are thinking outside the box to add something a little bit different to their special occasion. From heart-shaped celebration cakes and floral wedding dresses, to professional videos and more intimate gatherings, it all boils down to having the ‘wow’ factor and hosting a more individualised event.

Small, intimate weddings allow the couple to enjoy the company of close friends and family, making it a far more personal experience. More couples are considering the environmental impact of their big day and choosing eco-friendly, sustainable invitations, stationery and decorations to reduce waste.

Alternative wedding cakes such as macaron towers, mini tarts and donut walls are increasing in popularity, whilst decorations are becoming simpler and more subtle. And couples are choosing an extended celebration, with weddings often spanning two or three days so that they may enjoy spending time with their guests over a long weekend.

Nostalgia
Another trend proving popular is all things nostalgic, harking back to weddings of a bygone era. Dresses with a dropped waist, long veils and delicate gloves are making a comeback, whilst classic cocktails are being served from custom-style cocktail bars and vintage getaway cars are whisking the newlyweds away.

Destination weddings
This is not a new trend, but it is growing in popularity, as couples want to have their day in places meaningful to them. Locations in Europe are popular, such as renting a villa or a special retreat.

The downside to this is, of course, additional expense for the guests – couples need to balance their far-flung location desires with the understanding that not all their loved ones may be able to attend.

Fashion
Wedding dresses have traditionally been made in white or ivory, but we can now expect much bolder colours and floral patterns from the bride. Grooms are also switching things up with tuxedos and brighter colours or brocades.

With the rise of social media influencers, it’s important that couples stay true to themselves and adopt trends that fit with their own personal style. No doubt there will be even more burgeoning trends within the wedding industry by this time next year!
