For many of us, travel and holidays abroad are on hold, at least for the time being. However, this does not mean we should not enjoy a stylish ‘staycation’, even if it is your own back garden!

We generally tend to dress up when on holiday; well why not look forward to doing exactly the same wherever you choose to visit this year? Just because you can’t go to exotic locations, does not mean you can’t enjoy somewhere a bit closer to home.

Yellow
Yellow is everywhere at the moment and always brings a sense of sunshine and summer. From shades of mustard to gentle shades of lemon; add this splash of colour to update and freshen any look.
Zara has a gorgeous yellow double breasted blazer for £49.99 (below), as well as blouses, trousers, shorts and more, all in fabulous shades of yellow. Mango has a great pair of slim line trousers for £29.99 that will see you well past summer.

Many people think yellow is a tricky colour to wear, but actually it can flatter most skin and hair shades. If in doubt try just one item – who knows, you might end up head-to-toe in yellow, cheering everyone up!

Mint
If yellow is a no go zone for you then there are lots of soft minted shades out there, reminding us of ice cream pastel colours. Mint is certainly a very easy colour to wear.

At the top end of the market Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Victoria Beckham all showed these shades on their spring catwalk collections. What we see on the catwalk we know we will then see on the high street for a fraction of the price.

Maxi dresses
Long breezy maxi dresses are great not only for being comfortable, but they are also very forgiving if you have perhaps overindulged during lockdown! Try to buy pure cotton or linen, as they are breathable fabrics, helping during the hot weather in making you feel so much cooler.

Again Zara, Dorothy Perkins and Primark all offer a superb selection. You will be spoilt for choice.

Sales and second hand
Most of our high street shops are over-stocked owing to the lockdown, so there are certainly lots of bargains to be had, as they need the space for their autumn collections. Perhaps now would be the time to invest in a good quality item that is on sale, but that you know will last for many seasons to come.

This of course will help the environment and discourage the throw away fashion we have often indulged in recent years.

Charity shops are also going to be inundated with clothes and accessories, as so many people have used the extra time in lockdown to have a clear-out. You’re bound to find some bargain items and will also be helping to stop lots of clothes from going to landfill.
