Jacob’s Well Productions is a Cheltenham-based theatre company which produces a musical every autumn to raise funds for charity.
Founded in 1999, the group has a Christian foundation, with many of its members attending local churches.
“The musicals we have produced have been very varied in style but have all had a positive and uplifting message,” said Musical Director Ollie Clutterbuck.
“These have included ‘Rock Nativity’, ‘Honk’, ‘The Sound of Music’ and ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’.”
This year Jacob’s Well will be producing ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’.
Rehearsals began in early September, and Ollie will be directing the music alongside founder Libby Wall, with Lisa Mealing as director.
He continued: “Jacob’s Well produced this musical nine years ago but this year there’s a new artistic vision and we’re hoping to create a fresh and exciting production of this well-loved story.
“We’ve got a great cast of 17 and a live band. This musical will transport audiences on a gripping journey through Narnia and beyond!”
The production will be at the Cheltenham Playhouse, and as is tradition for the company, all proceeds will go to charity.
Ollie added: “This year’s chosen charities are Listening Post, a free professional counselling service for adults, and TIC+ which provides face-to-face and online counselling services for young people aged nine to 21 and their families.
“We will have a reunion early next year when we will get together with representatives from the two charities to give them the money raised. Last year we raised around £3,500 for the Primary Trauma Care Foundation.”
‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ will be at the Cheltenham Playhouse from Wednesday 27th to Saturday 30th November.
