Gloucestershire Music is a local organisation focused on delivering opportunities for people across the county to get involved with music.
They provide instrumental lessons in schools, offer young people the chance to perform with orchestras, bands and other ensembles, and even offer an instrument hire service to anyone in Gloucestershire.
This month, Gloucestershire Music will be holding a set of concerts to kick off the festive period, with three concerts at the Stroud Subscription Rooms, from 2nd – 4th December before a finale at Pittville Pump Room.
Steve Legge, Extended Learning and Provisions Manager at Gloucestershire Music is excited for the concerts and reveals what will be featured on the nights.
He said: “There will be a full range of music performed over the four nights from full orchestras, winds, choirs and jazz ensembles performing at the Stroud Subscription Rooms.
“Our ‘Gloucestershire Music Presents’ Christmas concerts continue and conclude on Sunday 9th December at the impressive Cheltenham Pittville Pump Room.”
The performance at Pittville Pump Room will feature a huge variety of musicians who work with Gloucestershire Music, alongside some specially invited visitors, as Steve explains.
He said: “This concert will feature over 130 musicians including Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra, Colwell Arts Orchestra, Gloucestershire Intermediate Strings and special guests The Oriel Singers. Nicky Price and Richard Atkins from BBC Radio Gloucestershire will be presenting the show.”
The finale is set to top off a wonderful year for Gloucestershire Music, which included having a record breaking four associated music groups chosen to perform at the ‘Music for Youth Festival’ in Birmingham, last July.
Steve is looking forward to the concerts but hoping that any forecasted White Christmas will hold off until after the show.
Steve continued: “The concert was a sell out last year but sadly cancelled due to the snow!
“It is always a nervous time when organising so many events and wondering if you will get an audience and if the players will turn up. But our concerts are always great fun so come and join us!”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
