Cheltenham Music Festival has today announced its full line up of concerts, events and shows.
40 events will take place across 12 venues in and around Cheltenham during the 10-day festival, which runs from Friday 3rd to Sunday 12th July.
Some of the highlights include world-leading ensembles like Aurora Orchestra, Carducci Quartet, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as top international artists including Matthew Barley, Ian Bostridge, Dame Sarah Connolly and Imogen Cooper.
And the festival has also announced renowned composer Jules Buckley as Guest Curator.
Buckley is one of the most in-demand conductors and arrangers of contemporary orchestral projects, having curated several BBC Late Night Proms and worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
He said: “I am very honoured to have been asked to be Guest Curator for Cheltenham Music Festival. Alison Balsom (Artistic Director for the 75th Cheltenham Music Festival) is a good friend of mine and I’d always been a great admirer of her work.
“The reach of this festival is significant and over the years the different artists that it has attracted and the different programmes the festival has put together have been very appealing to me.”
Buckley will be conducting The Heritage Orchestra in what will be the first European performance of ‘The Music of Moroder’ – the specially created show to celebrate the 80th birthday of ‘Father of Disco’ Giorgio Moroder.
2020 also marks 250 years since the birth of Beethoven, with celebrations taking place all over the world.
The Cheltenham Music Festival will be joining these celebrations starting with an immersive weekend of chamber music at Syde Manor prior to the start of the festival, with more events throughout the 10 days honouring his music.
