A Cheltenham-based film and production company will be marking the centenary of the end of the First World War by projecting a massive digital animation onto the front of the Cheltenham Municipal Offices on Sunday 11th November.

Evenlode Films and Productions will be producing a 15-minute high-impact film of WW1 using digital animation and imagery that will be projected onto the Municipal Offices throughout the late afternoon and into the evening. “It’s going to be a fitting tribute to the brave people of Cheltenham who made the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefields of Europe,” said Catherine Mountain of Evenlode Films.

She continued: “The work forms part of the Cheltenham Remembers initiative, a year-long calendar of events to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of WW1. This has been a project that has been a long time in the making and we’re so very excited to see the finished piece. This will be a visual, light and sound spectacle of the likes never seen before in Cheltenham.”

“It’s going to be massive arts animation giving an impression of WW1 which we hope will appeal to all generations. The animation will run for about 15 minutes in a loop so that people have the opportunity to see it.”

Commissioned by Cheltenham Borough Council and The Everyman Theatre, the projection is allied to Cheltenham Remembers and the Everyman Theatre’s concert ‘A Hundred Years On’, being held earlier in the afternoon of 11th November.

Catherine continued: “We’re going to be working alongside the Cheltenham Ladies’ Choir, and we’ll also be joined by our friend Mark Lester and actors from the Everyman Theatre who will be contributing to the event.

Five of the most talented animation students from the University of Gloucestershire have been specially selected to contribute to parts of this project. They have been working under the close direction of Producer, Filmmaker and Composer Tim Mountain to develop some of this work. It’s a great opportunity for them to be part of such a large-scale professional production and they are very excited to see it on such a giant screen. Projections of this scale are really awe-inspiring and something not to be missed”.

“Our film will be set to a unique and original soundtrack composed and produced by Tim. There will be a classical score, a spoken word rap sequence and special sound effects that will really make this production come to life in the centre of our Town. We’re so proud of what we’ve produced and can’t wait to see what the people of Gloucestershire think of it.”
