Avengers: Endgame

Quickly becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is a celebration and culmination of the past decade of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directed by the award-winning Russo brothers Joe and Anthony, Endgame is a send-off for the past 21 films in the Infinity Saga. With a lengthy three-hour run time, this film is fast-paced action, and if anything, I’m sure fans will agree that it could almost have gone on for longer.
With half of their team being wiped from existence, along with half of the universe, the Avengers are at their lowest point ever.
The previously unbeaten team of superheroes are defeated, and mad titan Thanos proves himself to be the toughest opponent the team have faced.
With no hope, and against all odds, the team must find their way back to each other and take on Thanos one last time – “whatever it takes”.
Remembering back to 2012’s ‘Avengers Assemble’, and the first time we see the original six-strong team of superheroes come together, we’re reminded of the amazing character development we’ve seen over the course of the film series.
Endgame is full to the brim with nods to previous movies, and they’re done so subtly that it doesn’t matter if you’ve not seen a Marvel film before. If you’re going to watch this film, the only other essential viewing is ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
Other than that, you can pick up on the action and understand what’s going on, all thanks to the incredible storytelling the Russo brothers have produced with this ode to the unstoppable team.
It’s impossible to be unattached to these characters. You’ll be full of emotion from start to end, and it truly is a rollercoaster.
There’s a perfect blend of comedy, action, and heartfelt moments throughout the course of the film, all culminating in a whopper of an ending. It’s a cathartic experience as we see characters from all corners of the MCU come together in their final effort to defeat Thanos.
Fast-paced, full of action, epic fight scenes, laughs and tears, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is the perfect ending to what has been a truly remarkable era of cinema.
Shot entirely with IMAX cameras, it’s also well worth seeing in IMAX 3D, enhancing the excellent filmmaking which can be at times put aside due to our desperation to find out our heroes’ fates.
