A ball to raise money to fight breast cancer has raised over £10,000 in funds for two local medical charities.

The event, that took place at the Pittville Pump Rooms, was organised by Sarah Cook, Director of HR & People Support Ltd, who planned it whilst recovering from breast cancer.

Money raised will go to local medical charity Cobalt and FOCUS, a cancer care charity based in the oncology centre at Cheltenham General Hospital who both supported Sarah throughout her diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.

Sarah said: “Upon my diagnosis of breast cancer I took a long hard look at my life. I had overcome so many hurdles, cancer was the last straw. I wasn’t about to give up without a fight though.

“I quit my job to launch my own business and I wanted to help others.”

Sarah will be able to double her donation to Cobalt in December through the Charity’s involvement in The Big Give initiative.

The Big Give launches on Tuesday 3rd December and will be matching donations to charities involved until Tuesday 10th December.

Every donation given to Cobalt through The Big Give website up to £25,000 will raise funds for two new Breast Cancer Research nurses, with a potential £50,000 up for grabs.

“The Big Give is a fantastic way to double the return on cash raised for this wonderful charity,” added Sarah.

“The breast cancer nurses will mean a fighting chance of patients getting diagnosed earlier and local women being able to take part in these essential studies.”
