The Cotswold Frog Racing Team will be coming out of retirement for a one night only in support of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
Taking place on Friday 6th March at Churchdown Community Centre, the evening will see people racing wooden frogs over the course of six races, with the winner of each race going through to a grand final.
The evening is being organised by volunteers to raise money for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, Gloucestershire’s only inpatient unit for specialist palliative care. The hospice provides expert care for local people with life-limiting conditions and also supports their families.
Hospice volunteer Paulette Vallois, who is helping to organise the event, said: “Get ready to croak with laughter at our hilarious Frog Race evening!
“We hope you will be able to join us for a night of fun and friendly competition with a difference that will raise vital funds for the compassionate care provided by Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.”
Auctioneer Philip Allwood of Moore Allen & Innocent, who regularly appears on TV shows such as BBC One’s Bargain Hunt, will then auction the frogs to raise funds. People will also be able to sponsor the races.
Paullette added: “We are so grateful to The Cotswold Frog Racing Team who are coming out of retirement for one night only to help us with this very special fundraiser, as well as auctioneer extraordinaire Philip Allwood.”
The Frog Race fundraiser will take place on Friday 6th March from 7.30pm at Churchdown Community Centre with the first race starting at 8pm.
Tickets cost £10 and include a Ploughman’s Supper. To find out more and book a ticket, email paulette.vallois@suerydercare.org or call 01452 856 951.
