A special screening of ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ is set to be held at the University of Gloucestershire in aid of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
The evening will feature a singalong version of the film as well as food, drink and games, and is being supported by Sibling Distillery, who have been working with the Gloucestershire-based Sue Ryder hospice for around two years.
“We were initially brought in to help consult on fundraising events,” said joint owner Felix Elliott-Berry.
“We now support with helping to run and stock fundraisers – one of the handy things about having a distillery and brewery!”
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice is the only palliative care inpatient unit in Gloucestershire and provides expert palliative care and bereavement support for people who are living with a life-limiting condition, as well as supporting their families.
Felix is well aware of the good work the nurses and staff do, as his close friend was admitted to the hospice at the age of 25.
He explained: “They helped to make a traumatic process as bearable as possible for everybody involved and since then I have been very keen to help repay them in any way that I can.
“Fortunately, being the joint owner of a local business means that with the support of my family and business partners we are able to make a financial difference to the fundraising effort of the hardworking team at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
“Anybody who has had any dealings with Sue Ryder will attest it is vital they are able to continue to operate at the immensely high standard they set.”
The Mamma Mia night is on Saturday 15th February and will be the latest in a number of events that Sibling and Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice have held together.
The night is being held at the University of Gloucestershire’s Park Campus and will begin at 6pm with a Greek style buffet along with a Sibling G&T and Battledown beer bar.
Felix continued: “We will be running simple but fun games with an array of prizes all the way from drinks tokens to paintballing parties to artwork from a local artist and a ‘Wine Wall’, where you get guaranteed bottles of wine when you enter with the chance of winning some top quality bottles for a fraction of the price.
“Following the food, drinks and games we are showing a cinema screening of ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’, the singalong version, which will bring a bit of light relief to an otherwise dreary February evening!
“Due to the generosity of the donations and the support of the University of Gloucestershire, every penny taken on the night will go straight to the charity, so by coming along you will not only have a load of fun, but also be making a huge difference to local families going through the worst time in their lives.”
