Stroud and the surrounding areas are well known for being a hub for creatives and performers.

The area is also a hotspot for entertainment, and as we welcome in the new year, here’s a guide of some of the best things going on in 2020.

Festivals
The Stroud Book Festival had its biggest line up of authors and illustrators last year and will be hoping to build on that with the 2020 festival in November.

The Site Festival and Open Studios will be hosting a number of exhibitions, performances, workshops and talks from local and national artists in June.

The Nailsworth Festival will bring theatre, music and talks to the town in May, whilst the Stroud Theatre Festival returns in early October.

Music
Chalfest has announced Alexandra Burke and The Blockheads as two of the acts set to headline the day on Saturday 18th July.

The Wotton Blues Festival will bring some of the best classic rhythm and blues artists to the town in September, and the Nibley Festival will also be entertaining audiences in early July.

Stage
The Cotswold Playhouse already has a host of plays lined up for 2020, including two productions by the Cotswold Players – ‘Babes in the Wood’ in January and ‘Nell Gwynn’ in March.

Theatre company Kick in the Head will be bringing ‘Choice Grenfell’ and ‘Fagin?’ to the Playhouse in February and April respectively.

The Stroud Subscription Rooms meanwhile have a variety of performers in store, including ‘The Missing Company of Sherlock Holmes’ with Tweedy the Clown, ‘Roald Dahl and the Imagination Seekers’, and comedian Lee Nelson.
