There’s loads of amazing events being held across the county this weekend. Here’s a selection of fun activities to get up to this Saturday and Sunday in Gloucestershire.

Underground Festival

The Guildhall in Gloucester will be hosting an array of up-and-coming bands at this year’s Underground Festival.

The three-day event, which gets underway on Friday, is a celebration of progressive musical talent tipped for the big time.

The festival has welcomed huge acts like Bastille and George Ezra in recent years and this year’s list of performers looks certain to please music lovers, particularly those with a passion for rock and indie music.

This year’s headline acts include Mallory Knox, Only the Poets, Black Peaks and Darwin Deez.

Oktoberfest at Gloucester Brewery

Staying in Gloucester and anyone with a thirst will be well catered for at the Gloucester Brewery’s annual Oktoberfest event.

The award-winning Gloucester brewery will be selling official Oktoberfest lagers, as well as stocking a range of other German beer styles plus a selection of their own brews.

Alongside the beer the brewery will be offering up some delicious Bavarian style food and putting on live music for visitors to enjoy.

Gustav Holst Birthday Concert

The Gustav Holst Birthday Concert has become a regular fixture in Cheltenham’s musical calendar, and audience members who attend this year’s performance are in for a treat as they will be the first to hear songs written by Holst that haven’t been performed in public before.

This year’s concert takes place on Saturday at St Andrew’s Church in Cheltenham. The Cheltenham Choral Society, who are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year, will be joined on stage by James Gilchrist (tenor) and John Wright (piano), with Ian Higginson conducting the concert.

Revival Festival

The annual Revival Festival gets underway on Saturday, with a weekend of fun-filled activities taking place at Cotswold Airport.

The inaugural Revival Festival was held last year. The event was such a success that organisers were left in no doubt to stage the event again.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of exciting activities including dramatic re-enactments and demonstrations, thrilling vintage air displays, exciting rides and experience flights, hundreds of vintage and military vehicles, full size and miniature steam engines, and plenty of entertainment including period live music.

The Autumn Trail at Sudeley Castle

Families can follow a trail around the grounds, finding out about some of the creatures that call the countryside home.

The new wildlife trail has been developed in partnership with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and includes everything from birds and bats to hedgehogs to trees and toads.

The new trail will run throughout September and October, including the half term holidays. Entry to the trail is free with admission tickets.
