In the September issue of our magazine we featured an article with local author Lorraine Collinson who had just released her second book.

The Churchdown-based author followed up her debut release – a tale of her beloved pet cocker spaniel – with another story that follows her pet Tinker’s adventures.

The first book in the series told the tale of Tinker’s early life in a lonely kennel. The mischievous puppy gets herself into trouble and comes close to being sent to the dog pound. Book two begins with Lorraine meeting Tinker for the first time.

The book is written from the point of view of the cocker spaniel puppy. Lorraine’s skill with the written world is most impressive, she’s able to reflect the loving bond between human and dog in such a compassionate and moving way.

The illustrations – done by Lorraine – are nothing short of superb. The way she’s able to convey emotion on the face of the animals is quite an achievement. The book is so well written it would be worth buying just for the text alone, the images add an extra dimension and make it even better.

The book would be a perfect gift for a young child looking to develop their reading skills or a parent in need of a new bedtime story to read to their children.
