The first ever Christmas Dog Parade will be held in support of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice next month.
Taking place on Sunday 1st December, the event invites local dogs and their owners to wear something festive and take part in the short parade.
Paulette Vallois is organising the event and will be attending with her daughter, Julia Thom, grandson Henry Thom and three year old Shih Tzu/Poodle cross, Murphy.
She said: “We already have our matching outfits planned for the Christmas Dog Parade, which is the first ever one for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
“I am really looking forward to seeing pet pooches dressed as Santa’s little helpers, Father Christmas and Rudolph, as well as seeing the colourful knitted Christmas jumpers I’m sure many of our furry friends will be sporting.”
Organised by hospice volunteers and supported by local dog grooming salon Scamps, the Christmas Dog Parade takes place against the backdrop of the historic Grade II Listed hospice building at 10.30am.
Each dog taking part will receive their very own bespoke rosette, while their owners can keep warm with food from The Woozy Pig and coffee from Kings Shots Coffee.
Miss Gloucester, Tamsin Grainger, will be judging the event and there will be prizes on offer for the best-dressed dogs and owners too.
“We’re a nation of dog lovers, so I hope lots of people will come along for a brilliant day out with their four legged friends,” added Paulette.
“We have a set number of spaces for the parade, so spaces are available on a first come first come basis and must be pre-registered online before the day.”
Registration is £5 minimum donation per dog, with all funds going to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice and its expert and compassionate palliative care and bereavement support.
