Dave Bell finishes second in this year’s Stroud Half Marathon

Dave Bell had to settle for second place in this year’s Stroud Half Marathon.

The impressive Cirencester AC runner, who won last year’s event, finished just over 20 seconds behind Wells City Harriers runner Philip Bridge.

Bell finished in one hour, 10 minutes, three seconds, 22 seconds behind Bridge but six seconds faster than his time last year.

Alastair Campbell was the first Stroud AC runner home in third place, finishing in one hour, 11 minutes, 35 seconds.

Jeff Waters, the Stroud AC runner who has competed in all 36 runnings of the Stroud Half, finished in the very respectable time of two hours, 22 minures, 11 seconds.

And Amy Gomer, also of Stroud AC, who is running five half marathons in five weeks to raise money for charity, completed in one hour, 36 minutes, five seconds.

The first Cheltenham Harrier home was Douglas Wight in one hour, 15 minutes, 47 seconds.

The first woman home was Wight’s clubmate, Shona Crombie-Hicks, in one hour 23 minutes, 10 seconds.

Almost 1,500 runners completed the race.
