Western Tempo's Alex Lee set to defend Frampton 10K title tomorrow
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Sunday, 21st June 2026, 09:00
All 650 places for this year’s Frampton 10K were taken up within 24 hours and some well-known runners in Gloucestershire are set to line up for tomorrow’s 7pm start.
Last year’s winner Alex Lee, of Western Tempo, is among the entries as is Stroud Athletic Club’s prolific Lee Stopford, who has been a serial winner of the event in recent times.
Stopford’s clubmate Nick Coyle is also entered along with Western Tempo’s Max Kelly and race director Ian Cutler is expecting the leaders to set a fast pace.
“We’re looking at a winning time of somewhere between 31 minutes and 32 minutes if the weather is kind,” said Cutler.
“If we have a good fight among the leading runners which I think we will then I think it will be a fast race. It’s a pretty flat 10K.”
Lee won in 32 minutes, 26 seconds 12 months ago, three seconds ahead of Cheltenham Harriers’ Stewart Merry with Western Tempo’s Liam Colahan third in 33.15.
The Frampton 10K, which is organised by Stroud AC, remains extremely popular and Cutler said: “It’s a good race for PBs.
“Places are at a premium, we’ve got a waiting list of 280 people.”
