Organisers ‘very pleased’ with support for Cirencester 10K
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 8th June 2017, 10:20
Up to 400 runners will be on the starting line for next week’s Cirencester 10K.
Known as the ‘summer sizzler’, Wednesday’s race will start at 7.30pm and Liza Darroch, publicity officer for Cirencester Athletics Club, is delighted with the support the race has received.
“We’re very pleased with the number of entries,” she said.
“The online entries have now closed but people can still enter on the evening of the race.”
The race, which is run around Cirencester Park, will start and finish close to the polo pavilion and, in a change to the route, the runners will now run down Big Bertha twice instead of up it.
A 3k race designed for juniors but open to all ages including accompanying parents will start by the polo pavilion at 6.45pm.
It’s a busy month for the club because they are entering three teams of 10 – men’s, women’s and mixed - in the Cotswold Way Relay on Saturday 24th June.
Each competitor runs a leg of around 10 miles and Cirencester are the current holders of the mixed team title.
“We seem to do rather well in this event,” said Darroch. “Mind you, it’s so stressful. It’s far more stressful running for others than when you’re just running for yourself.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
