Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 15th June 2017, 09:40
David Bell was too hot for his rivals as he stormed to victory in the ‘summer sizzler’ last night.
The Cirencester Athletics Club runner finished more than a minute clear of his nearest rival in the Cirencester 10K, completing the event in 33 minutes, 43.3 seconds.
Samuel O’Neill, from Headington RoadRunners, was second in a time of 34 minutes, 49.7 seconds, and there was clear daylight between him and the third-placed runner, Lee Stopford.
The Stroud and District Athletics Club member went round in 35 minutes, 28.4 seconds.
Another Cirencester runner, Bill Leggate, was fourth in 35 minutes, 39.2 seconds.Graham Aitchison, from Cirencester-based club Running Somewhere Else, who spoke to The Local Answer in the build-up to the race, finished 108th in a time 49.07. His wife Laurie was 49 places behind him in 52.53.8.
Organisers were delighted that 405 runners went under starter’s orders in Cirencester Park – Cirencester AC publicity officer Liza Darroch said that it was “a very successful 10K”.
Several Bourton Roadrunners took part in the Cirencester Park 3K junior summer sizzler.
George Quli did extremely well to finish sixth overall in 13 minutes, five seconds and his younger brother Arthur was not far behind in an excellent 18th place in 14 minutes, 11 seconds.
Callum Woolley did well to finish 19th, just two seconds behind Arthur.
Atticus and Jacob Sinton have both started racing recently and are certainly enjoying it with 30th and 39th place finishes in 15 minutes, 46 seconds and 16 minutes, 34 seconds respectively.Other Images
