Coney Hill and Hucclecote are on course for a dream all-Gloucestershire cup final at Twickenham.

Both clubs are just one game away from meeting in the RFU Community Cup Counties 3 & Below Championship  showpiece game after impressive victories yesterday.

Coney Hill overcame visitors Barton-under-Needwood 33-26 in their quarter-final tie while Hucclecote won 36-31 at Old Georgians.

First-half tries by Kai Turner, Joe Twomey and Finbar Baker helped Coney Hill into a 24-7 lead at half-time and although Barton-under-Needwood pulled it back to 24-21 and 30-26, a Ryan Barnett penalty gave the home side breathing space.

Ash Lewis also slotted three penalties and a conversion while Will Pinnell kicked two conversions.

“It was an excellent day,” said club president Ken Stokes. “They came back at us in the second half but we deserved to win.”

Coney Hill will now host Boston, who have been crowned champions of Counties 3 Midlands East (North East) after winning all 18 games, on Saturday, while Hucclecote entertain Wells.

Wells, who have won 17 out of 18 in Counties 3 Somerset South this season, won 22-15 at home to Bristol Saracens yesterday, while Boston won 34-22 at home to Bury.

The final of the Counties 3 & Below Championship takes place on Saturday 23rd May (11am).

Smiths remain on course for a quick return to Twickenham after their 54-36 win at the Prince of Wales Stadium over Cantabrigian in the last eight of the RFU Community Cup Counties 2 & Below Championship.

Smiths, who lost out in the final last season, will now host Mansfield, 39-36 winners at home to Littleborough yesterday, on Saturday.

Mansfield won Midlands 2 Counties East (North) this season after winning 21 of their 22 games and the final of the Counties 2 & Below Championship takes place on Saturday 23rd May (1pm).

Tewkesbury won the all-Gloucesteshire battle against Stroud 41-36 and will now travel to Perranporth on Saturday for a place in the final  of the RFU Community Cup Counties 2 South Plate on Saturday 16th May.

Cheltenham Saracens are through to last four of the RFU Community Cup Counties 3 & Below Central Plate after winning 38-21 at home to London Exiles.

They travel to Kings Norton on Saturday for a place in the final, which will be played on Sunday 17th May.
