Hucclecote will host Old Centralians in the first round of this year’s North Gloucestershire Combination Senior Cup.
The draw was made last night and, as is always the case, has thrown up some intriguing ties.
Hucclecote, midtable in Counties 2 Gloucestershire North, will be trying to bridge a gap of three divisions when they tackle Old Cents, who have enjoyed six wins in Regional 1 South West this season.
Gordon League, who are one of three teams in the hunt for the Counties 2 Gloucestershire North title, must step up a couple of levels when they travel to Chosen Hill, who were beaten finalists last year. Chosen Hill are midtable in Regional 2 Severn.
Widden Old Boys, one of four clubs chasing the Counties 3 Gloucestershire North title, will also be up against higher rated opposition when they travel to Coney Hill, multiple winners of the competition over the years. Third-placed Coney Hill are still in the race for the Counties 2 Gloucestershire North title.
Meanwhile, Senior Cup holders Matson, who have dominated Regional 2 Seven this season, have been given a bye into the last eight.
Longlevens 2nds, who won the Martin Slatter Junior Cup with a 22-19 win over Matson 2nds last season, begin the defence of their crown with a trip to Gordon League 2nds, while Old Centralians 2nds travel to Old Cryptians 2nds.
Matson 3rds will travel to Chosen Hill 3rds in the Glanville Cup, a competition which will also features Gloucester All Blues, who have been drawn away to Longlevens 3rds.
Finals day will be at Kingsholm on Sunday 7th May and the first round action will start after the clocks have gone forward on the last weekend of March, although exactly when has yet to be confirmed.
