Cinderford open pre-season campaign against Hinckley

National League One new boys Cinderford play their opening pre-season friendly at Hinckley on Saturday.

They then host Llandovery a week later on 18th August before taking on Championship side Hartpury, also at home, five days later.

Cinderford begin life back in National League One after last season’s promotion at home to Rosslyn Park on Saturday 1st September before travelling to another club with a famous name – Birmingham Moseley – a week later.

“Pre-season is vital for us,” said Cinderford director of rugby Paul Morris. “It went well for us last summer and we need to go up a gear again this summer.

“We have played Hinckley for the last two summers and Llandovery for as long as I’ve been at the club.

“Our draw away to Llandovery last summer was as good a performance that we gave in the entire season.

“We also welcome Hartpury to Cinderford on Thursday 23rd August. Hartpury set the standard for rugby outside Kingsholm in our county and it’s a great fixture for us to help us in our preparation for the big jump in playing standard we will encounter this season.”

On the same day that Cinderford’s flagship team take on Llandovery, the club’s United and Stags team travel to play Drybrook’s 1sts and 2nds respectively.

Drybrook have just won promotion to South West Premier for the first time in their history.
