The new Cheltenham Football League season gets under way tomorrow with seven fixtures in the first round of the Junior Cup.
The competition is for teams in the league’s top two divisions and throws up a number of interesting games including Whaddon United’s trip to Leckhampton Rovers, Prestbury Rovers’ visit to Dowty Dynamos and the clash at St Paul’s United where Shurdington Rovers are the visitors.
Holders Bishop’s Cleeve III have a bye into the second round.
The Minor Cup – for clubs in divisions three and four – takes centre stage on Thursday with league newcomers 303 Squadron hosting Smiths Barometrics 3rds.
Two other new teams, Worcester City Royals and AFC Cheltenham, clash at King George V playing fields on Saturday, the same day that holders FC Lakeside Reserves begin the defence of their trophy with a trip to Cheltenham United.
The league programme also gets under way this week – there are three games in Division One and one in Division Two on Thursday – and there are 11 league games on Saturday in addition to the three Minor Cup matches.
