Slimbridge to host Gloucester City twice in pre-season

Football fans in Slimbridge have the chance to see Gloucester City play on their doorstep not once but twice in the build-up to the 2017/18 campaign.
That’s because manager Tim Harris’ upwardly mobile club have a pre-season friendly against Freddy Ward’s Slimbridge on Tuesday 25th July, which is 10 days after Gloucester take on Bristol Rovers, also at Thornhill Park.
Gloucester, who will be playing their home games at Evesham United this season, are competing in National League South while Bristol Rovers, a non-League club themselves not so long ago, will be looking to improve on their impressive showing last time out in League One.
“Gloucester asked us if they could use our ground and we said yes,” said club official Tim Blake. “It’s quite an honour.
“We’re delighted that we’re playing them as well. I think I’m right in saying that we’ve never played them before in our recent history, so it should be a good night.”
Slimbridge, who play in Division One South and West of the Southern League, begin their pre-season friendly campaign at Stonehouse Town on Tuesday 18th July.
Slimbridge’s pre-season friendlies:
Tues 18th July, v Stonehouse T (a, 7pm)
Sat 22nd July, v Pegasus Juniors (a, 3pm)
Tues 25th July, v Gloucester C (h, 7.45pm)
Sat 29th July, v Clanfield (a, 3pm)
Tues 1st Aug, v Westfields (a, 7.45pm)
Sat 5th Aug, Undy Athletic (a, 3pm)
