Cheltenham chairman David Partidge believes new captain James Boyle is the right man for the job

Cheltenham begin their West of England Premier League campaign at home to Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday 2nd May
Cheltenham chairman David Partridge is backing new captain James Boyle to be a big success this season.
The 24-year-old all-rounder has taken over from Josh Breed as skipper and will be looking to kick on this season.
Cheltenham finished sixth in Premier 2 Glos/Wilts of the West of England Premier League in 2025 and Partridge said of Boyle: “He’s an opening bowler, middle order batsman and he’s a good leader.
“He’s a pretty strong character but gets on well with the guys. He knows what he wants and won’t be afraid to say what needs saying.
“He’s a good cricketer and a good leader of men.”
Cheltenham begin their league campaign at home to Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday 2nd May.
Breed, a 27-year-old leg-spin bowler and middle order batsman, isn’t available for Cheltenham this summer after being called up to South Africa’s development squad.Copyright © 2026 The Local Answer Limited.
