The beautiful spring sunshine makes me want to dash out and grab any bit of greenery I can find to bring indoors. Whether it’s spring bulbs in pots with candles nestled in between, houseplants, fresh cut flowers, or a spring door wreath, nothing lifts the spirit more than nature.

Botanical abundance brings a room to life, quite literally, and creates a sense of wellbeing and optimism. Your eye will always be drawn to the presence of nature in a room. Mixed with beautiful ceramic jugs, candlesticks, vases and pots, it’s the perfect seasonal display.

For a mini refresh, you can carry that forward to the rest of the accessories in your room. Nature-inspired and floral fabrics for cushions and curtains will give just the lift you’re looking for. Whether you want to go for a vintage chintz or a more modern block print, the floral theme is very much apparent this year. Floral fabrics are bigger, bolder and more intentional than they’ve been in recent years and certainly make their presence known.

I love the natural feel of Linwood’s new Helena print fabric from its Titania range. It comes in a range of beautiful colours, and with its intricate, embroidered stitchwork, it’s full of texture and charm.

Bright, joyful and embodies the spring season

If you’re looking for a slightly bolder influence, take a look at Molly Mahon’s Marigold Block Printed Fabric in Linen Yellow. It’s so bright and joyful and really embodies the spring season. Mixing this with a smaller print fabric with a solid colour background will work beautifully. Adding in a stripe to mixed floral fabrics will ground your combination of colours and patterns.

When it comes to quick wins, re-covering chair seat pads or footstools provides another opportunity to bring fabric into a room, creating that all-important textured and layered look. Adding in artwork and a lamp will bring a relaxed and sophisticated vibe to your room.

If decorating is the uplift you need and you’re looking to create the perfect backdrop for your soft furnishings, the new nature-inspired paint colours that are coming through this season will work perfectly. Think sage green, earthy terracotta and mustard yellow. Warm and elegant, these colours are instantly relatable and bring a gorgeous, natural atmosphere to any room in your home.

Ultimately, try to focus this spring on making your home feel restorative and uniquely yours, blending the fresh energy of the season with timeless comfort.
