The great outdoors provides us all with so much inspiration that can be transferred into our homes. From bits and pieces gathered on long walks, to art that reflects a love of the sea. There are many lovely pieces of nature that can be brought into your home to create a fantastic feel of the great outdoors.
Plenty of wood
Wood is a beautiful product and can be introduced into any space and in almost any form. Perhaps use a chunky piece of wood used as a chopping board, or twigs and branches can be displayed in a large rustic container to add instant texture. Fir cones and driftwood collected from long walks look wonderful piled onto window sills or shelves. The splendour of wooden floor boards will bring a rustic feel of nature to any room.
Add a basket or two
Wicker, sea grass and natural fibre baskets are a great storage option. Available in many sizes and various finishes, whatever it is you need to store – be it big or small – there is certainly a basket that suits your storage needs. An oversized basket used for storing the endless toy collection, or a small basket sitting on a dressing table as a safe home for treasured jewellery – neither will look out of place in the natural home.
Colours inspired by nature
Take a long look outside. What colours do you see that could be brought into your home? Mossy greens, earthy browns, daffodil yellow, hyacinth blue, poppy red – and not forgetting the rich colours that adorn the trees in autumn. These colours can be used in any way you like, be that paint for the walls, carpet for the floor or colourful accessories to brighten up an otherwise plain room.
A feature wall
Wallpaper featuring the great outdoors, such as trees and flowers, is widely available and adds the perfect outdoor mood. Be careful not to overdo it – keep the room’s furniture simple in style so the walls remain the focal point.
Finish off with fresh flowers
Flowers placed indoors are a simple way to add instant colour and introduce the tones of nature into your home. Blossoms left tall not only look great, but add a natural scent of spring blossom into the air. A few daffodils placed into a simple jar sitting on the kitchen worktop, or a grand bouquet elegantly sat on a table are both successful choices to bring nature into your home.Other Images
