Having spent over 20 years running his own pubs, clubs and hotels in the UK, businessman Carl Butterfield (pictured) has embarked on a new journey by purchasing the Drain Doctor Gloucestershire franchise.

With an existing team of five technicians and four support staff, Carl will taking over the reins and continue to work with Ruth Ryder, office manager, who has been keeping the business running effectively for the past year.

Already under Carl's management, the business has made investments in new vans, specialist equipment for the technicians and moved to new premises in June 2018.

Prior to the acquisition of his new plumbing and drainage franchise, Carl wanted a fresh challenge and business opportunity in a totally different sector from hospitality, where he previously managed over 100 employees across his premises.

Not wanting to start a new business again from scratch, Carl chose to go down the franchising route and make an investment in a sector which was growing and had lots of potential. Drain Doctor fitted the bill, particularly as it was part of the Dwyer Group, one of the world’s largest parent companies of home service brands, with a network of over 3,200 franchisees worldwide.
