October is a tricky time of year when it is too soon to get out the heavy winter coats and boots, but too cool for our beloved summer attire! Fortunately, the fashion industry has something for every season; here are some pieces that should see you through in stylish comfort.
Biker Jackets
This type of jacket has, of course, been around for a long time, however this season most designers and high street shops have their own version of this versatile style. Back in the day, biker jackets were generally black leather and considered a biker’s fashion. Fast forward to 2020 and there is a biker jacket for every one.
Many are now faux leather or faux suede. The benefits of these fabrics are many; primarily they are no longer stiff and squeaky like the old leather versions. Faux materials also come in different grades, which is useful to know.
Naturally, the very inexpensive ones can be on the plastic side, but if you aim for a high quality grade it is hard to discern they are faux. They offer a great deal more flexibility of movement and can be zipped up if you so choose. The added benefit is often they are washable on a cool cycle; always check the care labels first.
Ruth Langsford
Regularly seen on TV, Ruth Langsford deserves credit for her QVC fashion range over the last couple of years. I must admit, when I saw another ‘celeb’ starting a fashion line, I thought it would be just her name added to a label. Well, I have been proven wrong and happily so.
Ruth’s range is excellent quality with nice high-end detailing, but without the high-end price tag. Ruth oversees every minute detail, owing to her busy lifestyle she knows what busy women want to wear.
Her biker jackets are exquisite and designed to flatter most figures. There is a fabulous choice of colours to brighten up any season, for a great price of £79.
The benefit of shopping on QVC is that you have the luxury of trying on at home. QVC offer a very generous return period, even if the item has been washed! You cannot be more generous than that, and the customer service is great. Ruth’s range consists of much more than biker jackets so is certainly worth checking out!
Ankle Boots
This is a fashion trend that is here to stay. Ankle boots fill in nicely before the heavy winter boots are needed. Moda in Pelle sounds like an Italian high-end range, but it is in fact from the UK. The designs are very stylish and look expensive, yet are fairly priced for what you are getting.
Moda in Pelle offer a superb choice of ‘mocc croc’ ankle boots (pictured left) in many superb colours – they will make any outfit stand out. Their range offers flats to must-have heels, so check out their selection on their website. And let’s not neglect the men; Moda has an excellent selection of men’s footwear, so why not splash out on his and hers?
Enjoy shopping and dressing for the new season!Other Images
