The festive season is officially here and with it comes parties, special occasions and long-overdue family get-togethers. It’s the perfect excuse to indulge in some seasonal style.
At this magical time of the year, why not relax, let your hair down and have fun with fashion? Whether you’re drawn to timeless classics or want to experiment with something a little more glamorous, this is your time to shine. With sparkling decorations, twinkling lights and a diary bursting with social occasions, it’s time to embrace all the elements of festive fashion.
Romantic
This season’s romantic aesthetic takes inspiration from the past – think Bridgerton-style lace, ruffled sleeves and vintage-inspired details. Pair a delicate lace top with tailored trousers for an elegant evening look, or keep things relaxed and wear with your favourite jeans for a more casual vibe.
Cosy knits
You can never go wrong with a good knit. Perhaps you’ll follow the popular trend of matching knitted jumpers for the whole family. Not only do they create great photo opportunities, but they can be worn year after year and passed down as the children grow.
Red always reminds us of Christmas and a bold red remains a firm favourite at this time of year. Matching knitted co-ords seem to be popular this year, often with a subtle metallic thread for a dressier appearance. The best part about co-ords is that you can wear the pieces separately for two completely different looks, bringing versatility to your festive wardrobe.
Sparkle
Is there such a thing as too much sparkle? Sequins and shimmer are no longer reserved just for the festive season – they’ve become a year-round trend – but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with them at Christmas. Whether you choose head-to-toe glitter or opt for a statement item of clothing, get a little creative.
For a balanced look, pair a sparkly top with faux leather trousers, or a sequin skirt with a knitted jumper. Fortunately, many designers and brands now use recycled or biodegradable sequins and glitter, so you can look fabulous while staying eco-friendly.
Velvet
Velvet is a material that never goes out of fashion, especially at Christmastime. This year, rich velvet trousers are everywhere. Marks & Spencer have some beautiful options in luxurious shades – perfect for that sophisticated look. For footwear, Zara has a lovely pair of velvet-effect ballerina shoes, which are stylish, comfortable and perfect for dancing the night away.
Comfort meets style
If your ideal Christmas involves staying snug in the comfort of your own home, luxe loungewear is the way to go. From cashmere sets at Harrods to cosy options from Primark, there’s something for every budget. Matching thermal sets in festive shades offer a festive way to keep your family warm and cosy, while fluffy slippers add a fun finishing touch.
Accessories
Accessories are a great way to make a statement this festive season. From big bows with trailing ribbons, to bold bracelets and chunky earrings that add a touch of glam, these items also make perfect gift ideas. Layering jewellery is another key trend, adding depth without going overboard.
However you choose to dress this season, enjoy the celebrations and have a very merry Christmas!Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
