As September heralds the end of what has been an uninspiring summer, to say the least, our lightweight, breezy clothes are ready to be packed away for another year. The big question now is, what is best for the inbetween season before coats need to emerge?
Ever-popular, reliable denim once again sees us through the dip in temperature. Luckily, denim rarely goes out of style, if ever, and is practical, long lasting, and affordable. Denim is very much in vogue at present – from the popular western-style, to double denim, the decision is all yours. Below are some of the more popular trends for 2024 and beyond.
Western denim
This is a great trendy look to incorporate into your wardrobe. Beyoncé revived this popular look with her Cowboy Carter era, and Kevin Costner’s new epic film Horizon also brought the American West back into the spotlight. Many western style jackets have pointed yokes and fancier snap-style fastenings.
Double denim
If you go for the double look, aim for a boot-cut jean. ‘Jorts’ – meaning jean shorts – might fit the bill if we get a lovely Indian summer (we can hope!). Nothing beats a crisp white t-shirt to pull it all together.
Embellished denim
You will see lots of this on many denim styles courtesy of Taylor Swift, who is a huge fan of embellishment. Rest assured, where her style leads, her fans follow! There’s nothing like some sparkle and crystal to stand out from the crowd.
Denim should not be overwashed, but when you do pop it in the laundry, make sure you turn the garment inside out, especially those items with any extra adornments.
Denim jackets
The denim jacket is an iconic staple and comes in all sorts of updated looks for 2024. The classic trucker look is seen as an oversized, generous fit, which is useful if you want to add a jumper underneath on those chillier days. The ‘shacket’ style is also useful as an alternative for cooler autumn days.
QVC has a denim jacket in a huge variety of shades. It has been one of their most popular products ever, so much so they have to keep bringing it back in stock as it is always a sell-out.
Denim jeans
Looser and longer is the current trend – quite a different look to the skinny jean – and they’re often designed with a higher waist for a more flattering look. Barrel jeans are very popular, and Marks and Spencer has stocked up on this particular look.
Cowboy boots
To finish off your denim western look or perhaps just to add a western item to your wardrobe, check out cowboy boots. They’re very versatile and can be worn with many outfits, even a maxi denim dress. The high street will be awash with a variety of flattering colours, not just brown and black, so a vibrant shade will certainly make your outfit stand out. The latest boots often have a softer look to the toe line, unlike the pointy, uncomfortable style we’ve been used to.
Whether you choose top to toe or just one item, you too will be part of the western look!Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
