Braving the shave for charity

A hairdressers in Frampton on Severn will be snipping off more than usual on Friday
29th March.
At 10am stylists at the Rumours Hair salon will be oiling up their clippers and shaving the head of fellow colleague Jodie Sheppard, as well as her aunt and mum.
Jodie’s mum has been diagnosed for the third time with breast cancer and this is her second time being treated with chemotherapy. Jodie was spurred on to support her mum during this difficult time and to get fundraising for Cobalt, a local medical charity supporting Gloucestershire women with breast cancer.
Chemotherapy treatment can cause hair loss (also called alopecia) and when it does, it can really knock someone’s self-confidence. Hair loss may occur throughout the body, including the head, face, arms, legs and underarms.
“Potential hair loss is something many people undergoing treatment for cancer go through and I wanted mum to know she has everyone’s full support at this difficult time,” said Jodie.
“I decided to support Cobalt because early diagnosis has been so important for mum to start getting the treatment she needs. Anything that gives the chance of an earlier diagnosis will help many women like mum across the county have a fighting chance”.
Cups of tea and homemade cake will be on offer in the salon on the day and everyone is welcome.
Kirsty Bradbury, Fundraising Engagement Officer at Cobalt said: “We are so very pleased Jodie and the team at Rumours are supporting us.
“We recently raised money for the purchase of new 3D mammography equipment for the Thirlestaine Breast Centre in Gloucestershire and have now set up a permanent fund for breast cancer on raising funds for this important area”.
Jodie has already started to raise funds through her Just Giving page here.
