Mouthwatering selection at the Revival Cafe Bar and Grill

The Revival Café Bar and Grill is a lovely little eatery in the centre of Cheltenham, just off the main high street on Winchcombe street.
As their name suggests, the Revival does everything from breakfast to lunch to dinner, and with a varied selection of meals on offer there’s certainly plenty of choice.
Inside, there’s plenty of seating including an upstairs function room that can be booked for special occasions.
I visited in the evening and ordered from the dinner menu. To start, I went for ‘Sucuk and Hummus’ – I have never been fully on board the hummus craze that’s taken over in the last few years, but this dish might have converted me.
The hummus, which was freshly made, was smooth and just the right texture for dipping the flat bread into. Sucuk is a Turkish garlic sausage that I had never had before, but it was delicious. Slightly salty, crispy slices of sausage that paired nicely with the hummus. Each part of the dish was great alone, but combined they were superb.
For my main course, I chose the Chicken Supreme, although the Seafood Tagliatelle and The Ultimate Burger both caught my eye.
The pan seared chicken breast had crispy skin, but was moist on the inside, and the lime, garlic and coriander sauce was creamy and complimented it perfectly.
The chicken sat on a bed of crushed new potatoes, olives, and an assortment of other vegetables and spices. To my surprise, there were also slices of avocado in there – a combination that I never would have expected to work – that was arguably the highlight of the meal.
I was given great service from the friendly waitress, who kept me well watered all night. Despite her best efforts I simply couldn’t fit in a dessert after wolfing down my first two courses filled me up considerably. However on my next visit I will definitely be saving room for a Baileys Crème Brûlée.
Overall, my experience at the Revival Café Bar and Grill was an enjoyable one. A great choice of food right in the middle of town, it’s a great option for a meal anytime of the day.
