Panto season is officially underway and there’s a variety of different shows on throughout December and the New Year in Gloucestershire.
The Local Answer is here to help with our guide to some of the best places to see some slapstick comedy, boo the villains and shout “he’s behind you!” this festive period.Snow White, Bacon Theatre, 17th-20th Jan
Cheltenham based dramatic society Promenade Productions will be bringing the traditional family pantomime of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' to The Bacon Theatre in January. Expect magic mirrors, a hilarious dame and a wicked Queen.
Aladdin, Everyman Theatre, 30th Nov-13th Jan
Written by former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan, this classic story comes to the Everyman on numerous dates throughout December and January, and will feature genies, flying carpets, magic and much more.
Dick Whittington, Roses Theatre, 1st Dec-5th Jan
The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury plays host to another classic family story this year. ‘Dick Whittington’ tells the tale of a young boy searching for his fortune, meeting friends and colourful characters along the way.
Just So, Barn Theatre, 5th Dec-13th Jan
‘Just So’ is an original production by the Barn Theatre in Cirencester, based around five interwoven stories by Rudyard Kipling. Running on selected dates, including Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, the story centres around a journey through the jungle with a character called ‘Elephant’s Child’.
Sleeping Beauty, Gloucester Guildhall, 19th-22nd Dec
When the evil Fairy Malafaz curses Princess Aurora, it’s up to the good fairies to save the day and break the spell. Gloucester-based Tyger Productions bring the beloved fairytale to the Guildhall stage this month.
Snow White, Stroud Subscription Rooms, 21st-24th Dec
From Friday 21st December up until and including Christmas Eve, That’s Entertainment Productions will be performing ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, featuring Britain’s Got Talent finalist Drew Cameron at the Stroud Subscription Rooms.
Jack and the Beanstalk, Tetbury Goods Shed, 2nd Jan
