The Sundial Theatre Company is a special theatre group, in that it is led entirely by students from Cirencester College.

George Sutton, who has been chairman of the board at Sundial since September, explains what the group is all about.

He said: “We try to put on a few different shows every year, along with showcases and workshops.

“Our main aim is to enhance the opportunities for the students.”

2018 was a very good year for Sundial, the highlight arguably a trip to Edinburgh to perform at the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The show the students performed at the Fringe Festival was called ‘Animal Management’ and had underlying themes on the topics of mental health and education.

George added: “Although I wasn’t a part of the company at the time, I know from other members it went really well.

“Some of the reviews were absolutely amazing and it proved to be a very popular show.”

Following on from last year’s successes, Sundial’s first production of 2019 will be ‘Pinocchio’.

George continued: “This show was meant to be our Christmas performance, but we had to change the dates.

“It’s open to the public and is going to be really good fun. There’s a real diverse nature to the show.

“We’re not able do the Fringe Festival again this year but we will be working with the National Theatre in London this year, so there’s some really exciting times ahead.”

‘Pinocchio’ will be on at the Sundial Theatre in Cirencester from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th of February.
