Blockley Amateur Dramatic Company – or BAD Company as they are also known – have been producing shows in the local area for nearly 14 years.
Their first production was a variety concert in October 2006, and in February 2007 the company launched its first full scale production: ‘Romeo and the Pirate Princess’.
This month, the company will be bringing the classic Sue Townsend comedy ‘Bazaar and Rummage’ to St George’s Hall in Blockley.
Director Stephen Downing has been involved in theatre for over 50 years, and in that time has appeared in 130 plays and directed a further 50.
He said: “I have known Blockley for over 35 years but only recently got involved with BAD Company after a lifelong love affair with the theatre.
“I appeared in last year’s BAD Company production of ‘The Children’.”
‘Bazaar and Rummage’ tells the story of a group of housebound women lured from their comfortable environments by Gwenda – a would-be social worker and administrator of the Agoraphobics Self-Help Group – into helping run an old-fashioned jumble sale with the hope that this will cure them of their fears.
“We chose this production as it gave wonderful parts to six ladies,” continued Stephen.
“We have added music and dance, and I’m delighted to say rehearsals are a joy. The cast and crew love the play.”
‘Bazaar and Rummage’ will be at St George’s Hall, Blockley, from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd. February, with evening performance at 7.30pm and a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets are priced £10 for the Thursday performance and £12 thereafter and can be bought from Blockley Shop.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
