Last week The Local Answer caught up with Iwan Lewis from The Barn Theatre in Cirencester who revealed exciting plans for the inaugural ‘Fringe at the Barn’ event to be held next month. The four-day event will feature performances from some of the leading stars from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world. With the event getting underway in just over three weeks the theatre has announced details of some of the acts that will be gracing the stage for ‘Fringe at the Barn’.
Iwan Lewis, Artistic Director at the Barn Theatre, recently travelled to Edinburgh to pick his favourite performers to welcome down to Cirencester and he’s now revealed details on some of the first performers for this year’s event. He said: “Everyone at the Barn Theatre is very excited for our first ‘Fringe at the Barn’ event that is held on 12th-15th September. We’ll be welcoming some supremely talented performers from the world of comedy, theatre and an outstanding magician.
“We’re delighted to be welcoming Tom Brace who is one of the leading magicians in the country. Tom is an incredible performer and puts on a show that the whole family can enjoy. It’s not patronising for the kids and adults will love it. We wanted to book acts that are going to hit our cross section of audiences and Tom certainly ticks that box. He’s a uniquely talented magician and is also a superb performer.
“One of our comedy acts is Tamar Broadbent who blew me away when I saw her up in Edinburgh. Tamar is a fantastic comedian and theatrical performer, she writes songs that are laugh out loud funny. When I went up to Edinburgh for the weekend I saw 35 shows, I’d usually watch the first 20 minutes and then have to move on to the next one. I was so impressed with Tamar’s show I stayed for the entirety. I’m sure she will go on to be a real superstar and I’m very pleased to welcome her to Cirencester.
“The ‘Fringe at the Barn’ event is something we hope to run every year. Some people see the Edinburgh Fringe as just a load of stand-up comedy acts but there’s so much more going on and our choice of performers reflects that. In the coming days we’ll be revealing details on our other performers who will be appearing at ‘Fringe at the Barn’.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
