The Rotary Club of Cheltenham Sunrise will be hosting a rousing afternoon and evening of entertainment with the ‘Last Night of the Proms’ this weekend at The Bacon Theatre, Cheltenham.
Audiences can enjoy a popular selection of traditional classics celebrating what makes Great Britain great, performed by the Glevum Symphony Orchestra and finalists from the Rotary Young Musicians.
The show is set to be a fantastic offering of live entertainment, and proceeds will be going to the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, to help the only hospice in Gloucestershire with an inpatient unit.
The event by the local Rotary club, now in its 20th year of fundraising in Gloucestershire, takes place at 4pm and 7.30pm on Sunday 4th November at The Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham, featuring a selection of popular modern and traditional classics.
The shorter one-hour Matinee performance is ideal for younger listeners and families.
The President of The Rotary Club of Cheltenham Sunrise, Stan Smith, explains why the fundraising is so crucial.
He said: “Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice makes a huge difference to people’s lives and their families.
“So many of us in Gloucestershire have families or friends touched by diagnosis of cancer, neurological conditions or heart or lung disease, and we are supported in time of need by the Hospice. We wanted to raise funds for them as they make a huge difference to so many during such a difficult time.”
Alysia Cameron Price, Community Fundraising Manager for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, is excited by the event and says how thankful the Sue Ryder team are for the support.
She said: “What an incredible opportunity to experience all the fanfare of the Last Night of the Proms here in Gloucestershire while supporting our hospice and our expert and compassionate care, which means we can be there for local families when it matters.
“We’re so grateful to The Rotary Club of Cheltenham Sunrise for raising funds for us with this fantastic event.”
