This year The Cotswold Male Voice Choir is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

Formed in 1949 as Smiths Male Voice Choir by workers at Smiths Sons Ltd, the Choir now boasts around 50 members from Cheltenham and the surrounding Cotswold areas.

For seven decades the Choir has been bringing music and song to audiences throughout Gloucestershire and beyond, and they will be hosting a special anniversary concert at St. Matthew’s Church in Cheltenham next month to celebrate.
 
Long-time member John McDonnell said: “The choir aims to entertain its audience with songs from every decade of those 70 years as well as giving everyone a chance to join in the singing with some audience favourites.”

The Choir perform all sorts of songs, from hymns to modern-day classics.

And for this special concert the Choir will be performing alongside a special guest in Cheltenham soprano Holly Seward.

“Holly trained in classical music and with the Chichester Chamber Choir has performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall and The Vatican, as well as many local venues,” added John.

The special anniversary concert is on Saturday 5th October and starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10.00 and can be booked online via the choir’s website www.cotswoldmvc.org.
