Cleeve Concerts bringing bands to the barn

The Bishop’s Cleeve Tithe Barn has undergone a massive transformation over the years.
Originally built in the 15th century, the barn is now a grade 2 listed building and a versatile auditorium, available to hire for the general public.
For the last few years the barn has played host to ‘Cleeve Concerts’, a set of shows featuring musicians and bands from all over the country.
Lee Noble has been involved in organising the shows since 2015.
He said: “I run Cleeve Concerts along with Christian Finn. We took the events over around 4 years ago now and have really helped develop the amazing programme of music that is happening in Bishop’s Cleeve.”
Acts such as Eddi Reader and Martin Kemp have featured in the past, bringing visitors from all over the country to the village.
“The shows have had a very positive effect on the town and people seem to be amazed with the names that are coming to play here,” Lee continued.
“We have been lucky enough to have Jason Donovan, Midge Ure, Beverley Craven, Kiki Dee, T'Pau, Barbara Dickson, Nik Kershaw and so many others. It's a blessing.”
The Cleeve Concerts began in 2012, and the 2019 edition gets underway this month, starting with a return to the Tithe Barn for 80s New Wave singer Toyah.
Following Toyah will be local saxophonist and singer songwriter Kim Cypher, who will be launching her second album on the night.
In the coming months, acts such as Andy Fairweather Low and Hazel O’Connor will be performing at the barn, and Lee is looking forward to the gigs.
He added: “We are very excited about the upcoming year.
“There may not be as many shows this time, but the ones that are coming are top quality and are guaranteed to give people a great night out.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
