A special charity performance is taking place this week to help raise vital funds for the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, which is home to the only inpatient palliative care unit in the county.
The members of the Churchdown Male Voice Choir will be singing in the hope of raising vital funds for Sue Ryder and the 650 people a year who need their expert and compassionate palliative care.
The choir will be performing a varied programme at St Peter’s Church in Leckhampton, which is at the bottom of the hospice’s driveway.
The event has been organised by the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Fundraising Group, headed up by hospice volunteer, Paulette Vallois.
She said: “Churchdown Male Voice Choir is a very well-known and popular choir who’ve performed across England. They recently performed at Gloucester Cathedral as part of the Three Choirs Festival.
“As a Churchdown resident myself I have enjoyed lots of their performances, so I am thrilled they’re singing for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court at St Peter's Church, which is a stone’s throw from the hospice. St Peter's is a lovely church so the audience will be entertained in stunning surroundings and there will be tea, coffee and home-made biscuits served in the interval too.”
There will also be a special guest appearance from Cheltenham Soprano Becks Grant-Jones alongside the choir at the concert, which takes place on Saturday 21st September and starts at 7.30pm.
Roger Higgs, Chairman of Churchdown Male Voice Choir, said, “We’re delighted to be supporting this worthwhile charity by doing what we enjoy best – performing some of our favourite songs to an appreciative audience.”
Tickets cost £8 and include refreshments. To secure your ticket email paulette.vallois@sueryder.org
