Cheltenham is well-known as a hotspot for blues and jazz musicians.
This is of course down to the fact that every summer, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival attracts some of the world’s greatest musicians to the town, bringing music fans from all over the world.
The Moody Tuesdays performed at this year’s festival, after only getting together as a band just before the event.
“Individually we have been performing in various projects for over 10 years,” said lead singer Anita Walsh.
“But as The Moody Tuesdays we have only been together since May this year with our very first gig at The Strand during the Cheltenham Jazz Festival.”
The group are a five piece jazz and blues band, who all live in Cheltenham and the surrounding areas.
Alongside Anita is Martin Wakely on bass, Roger Davis on guitar, Geoff Webb on keyboard and drummer Steve Barton.
“We’ve all been involved in music for many years in different bands and styles of music,” continued Anita.
“We play jazz and blues music. It’s a lively mixture of classic jazz standards such as ‘Summertime’ and ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, to Carole King’s 'It’s Too Late' and blues numbers such as ‘I Want You To Love Me’ by Robin Trower and Eric Clapton's ‘Crossroads’.”
The Moody Tuesdays will be returning to The Strand on Friday 25th October.
Starting at 9pm, the gig is free to enter, and Anita can’t wait to get back on stage.
She said: “It’s going to be great playing there again as our very first gig was there in May. The staff and audience were great fun and everyone was singing and cheering by the end of the night!
“We have some great new songs added to our set list such as ‘Pearl's a Singer’ and Norah Jones’ ‘Don't Know Why’.
“We love it when we can see people enjoying themselves, singing along and dancing. We have a great time when we see other people having a good time!”
