The Cornbury Festival is set to once again light up the Cotswolds this summer, with one of their biggest and best lineups to date.

The festival was founded in 2004 by Hugh Phillimore – “I’m the idiot who started it and we’ve managed to just about hold it together!” he said.

It’s fair to say that’s an understatement, as the festival has grown and grown, attracting huge artists over the years including Elvis Costello, Alanis Morissette and Amy Winehouse.

This year will be no different with award-winning pop-rock band Keane returning to headline Saturday night.

“Keane are our all-time favourite headliners at Cornbury so of course I’m completely thrilled that they’ve chosen to include us as part of their return,” said Hugh.

“They headlined our 10th anniversary festival in 2013 it’s great to see them after a six-year break.”

Formed in 1995, all four of Keane’s albums have debuted at No. 1 in the UK charts, with 2004’s ‘Hopes and Fears’ remaining one of the UK’s best-selling albums of all time.

Cornbury will be one of Keane’s first appearances since band members took a break at the end of 2013 to work on other projects, with a new album set for release towards the end of 2019.

Also headlining are legendary ska band The Specials – who themselves have, this year, released their eighth studio album – and The Beach Boys, one of the most iconic groups of all time.

Festival goers will also be able to see returning names including Echo & The Bunnymen, KT Tunstall, Beverley Knight, The Shires, Paul Carrack, The Hothouse Flowers and the Trevor Horn Band.

Hugh added: “We’ve got local lad Gaz Coombes coming, the inimitable Alfie Boe and Elkie Brooks who is one of the best British blues singers.

“And national treasures The Hairy Bikers hosting their unique Festival Feast – we think it’s our best line-up ever.”

Alongside the music, the festival also has comedy from acts including Josie Long and Lost Voice Guy, as well as plenty for children and families to enjoy.

The Kids’ Zone is right in the middle of the festival, in sight of the main stage, so families can drop in and out whilst seeing all the festival highlights.

With a range of workshops, arts and crafts, special performances and activities – all of which are free – there’s something for all ages on the go all the time.

Entrance for under-threes is free, and quieter camping options are at the same price as general camping tickets.

“It’s really important to us that we have all these different things going on,” said Hugh. “Children are at the centre of the festival.”
