Tetfest organiser Malcolm Philby presents five family tickets to Cirencester Foodbank’s manager Rachel BrindleyThe annual Tetfest returns to Worwell Field in Tetbury next month, and organisers have already displayed the charitable spirit of the festival.
Five families from Tetbury and the surrounding area will have the opportunity to attend this year’s festival for free after Tetfest donated five family tickets to the Cirencester Foodbank.
As part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 Foodbanks in the UK, the Cirencester branch is working to tackle food poverty and hunger in the community.
Malcolm Philby, one of the event organisers, presented the tickets to Cirencester Foodbank’s manager Rachel Brindley and they will now be distributed to families using the Foodbank’s services.
“We are very grateful to Tetfest for this kind donation,” said Rachel. “These tickets will bring a lot of pleasure to parents and children who couldn’t otherwise afford a day out to enjoy live music.
“It is fantastic that a community event like Tetfest is supporting Foodbank in this way and I know these tickets are going to make the recipients very happy.”
Tetfest, which takes place on Saturday 13th July, donates all surplus profits to local charities.
In 2018, this amounted to nearly £1,000, which was given to local causes like Tetbury Hospital and St. Mary’s Primary School.
Tetfest organiser and Tetbury Town Councillor, Mark Trolly Wood said: “Tetfest is organised by a team of volunteers. None of us are paid for our work and, indeed, most of us are dipping into our own pockets to make it happen.
“We want Tetbury to have a live music event because we feel that, with a rapidly expanding population, the town needs something to bring people together in an environment that is relaxed, fun and enjoyable. We really hope local people will give us their support so that Tetfest can become an established event on the town’s calendar.”
This year’s headline act is Oasis tribute band, Noasis, and other artists scheduled to perform include Durandau Ballet, the Mick O’Toole Band, the Ukey Dukes, Mike Ayliffe, Bones Like That and DJ Moggy.
There will also be an acoustic tent, a fully licensed bar, a free children’s entertainment area, food stalls and face painting.
Tetfest takes place at Worwell Field, Cirencester Road, Tetbury GL8 8RY, where there is ample parking. Gates open at 1pm and the event runs until 11.30pm.
As this is an all ticket event (with a maximum capacity of 500), anyone wishing to attend is advised to buy early to avoid disappointment.
