Cheltenham rock band Snog the Dog will be playing the Underground Festival in Gloucester this Friday evening, and Rich Howie says the gig will be a great opportunity for his band to play at what he calls ‘one of the best music festivals held in Gloucestershire’.
The Underground Festival has hosted huge acts like Bastille and George Ezra in recent years and this year’s list of performers looks certain to please music lovers, particularly those with a passion for rock and indie music.
Snog the Dog will be playing at 7:30pm this Friday, and Rich says his band members have been looking forward to getting on stage at the Guildhall in Gloucester for a long time.
He said: “I’ve been to plenty of gigs at The Guildhall over the years, but I’ve never played there before so it’s exciting times. When you look at the line-up of bands and artists playing at this year’s festival there’s some big names there, to be playing alongside them is a big deal for us.
“We’re going to be playing tracks from our new album on Friday evening, it’s going to be exciting to see how they go down.”
The band have been together for 14 years and in that time have managed to play at many of the leading music venues in Gloucestershire and have built up a strong fan base.
Rich continued: “We’ve been going since 2004. We played plenty of gigs in the early years and built up a bit of a following. In 2013 we released our debut album and since then we’ve been playing as many gigs as possible.
“Last weekend we played an acoustic set at Frogfest Festival which was held at the Frog & Fiddle. Being a hometown venue it’s a place we’ve played loads of times, we love it there. Everyone watching seemed to enjoy our set, the place was packed out, it was a great night.”
Moving forwards to Friday evening and Rich is anticipating a great evening.
He continued: “Friday is going to be amazing. Bands like Mallory Knox and Black Peaks are playing at the festival, they’re big names. It’s going to be great to see a few of our friends who are playing over the weekend as well.
“In terms of gigs in the future we’re playing up in Birmingham in November which is going to be a lot of fun. As a band we want to spread the word and promote ourselves so playing new venues in big cities is great for us.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
