Wren Snaith has proven that age is no barrier to musical success by releasing her debut single at the end of her third year at secondary school.
The 13-year-old Balcarras pupil released ‘In the Case of a Heartbreak’ – a song she wrote when she was eleven years old – last month and has been blown away by the initial reaction. She said: “This song means a lot to me, to see so many people download it has been really pleasing and very surprising. Growing up I’ve always dreamed of making a career out of performing, this is only a small step but it’s one I’m proud of.”
The song is available to be purchased on all the major music download sites including iTunes and Spotify and has given the young musician some much needed exposure. Wren continued: “I’m still young so it’s hard to get gigs at pubs and clubs. I recently performed at my school which was a lot of fun. There’s nothing I enjoy more than getting on stage and playing the piano and singing. I’m quite lucky in the sense that I don’t tend to get nervous before I perform, I just love getting out there and showing people what I can do.”
Wren has been playing the piano and writing her own music from a young age and is looking ahead to the future when she hopes to make a career out of performing. She continued: “I’ve been very lucky to have a piano at home, it was my grandfathers, who was a classical composer. I’m always playing and learning. I’ve been really musical all my life really, I love to sing and dance. Writing songs is a long process, I enjoy it though. I look up to artists like Adele, her lyrics are so powerful and she’s an amazing singer. Alicia Keys is another artist I admire, she taught herself piano and has made a real success of her career.”
As well as making good use of the brand-new Music School at Balcarras School, Wren has also been attached to an up-an-coming music academy in Cheltenham. She added: “I’ve been going to a music school in Cheltenham called the Rock Foundry for four years. They started a record label called Gameplan Records, and I was lucky enough to be signed to it, that’s how we released the song. It’s always been my dream to become famous for my music, I know there’s a lot of hard work involved but I’m really focused and passionate, I’ll give it my best shot.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
