Organiser hails sell-out festival

The last time The Local Answer spoke with organisers of the Nibley Festival they were quietly confident of selling all their tickets for the 2018 two-day event. Their confidence was certainly well placed, as over 5,000 festival goers attended over two days, marking another sell-out year.
The Nibley Festival has come a long way in just over a decade. The inaugural festival, held in 2006, attracted a relatively small crowd, but 12 years later visitors flocked in their thousands to the village in south Gloucestershire to see the likes of Example, The Pigeon Detectives and Space who all performed on the main stage. As well as top-class professional musicians the festival also welcomed up-and-coming artists, many of them from Gloucestershire, who performed on the supporting stages.
Mark Bailey, one of the volunteers who organises the Nibley Festival, was delighted with the attendance of this year’s festival, especially as it clashed with key matches at the 2018 World Cup. He said: “5,000 festival-goers attended Nibley 2018 making the event another sell-out year. We were thrilled with this turn-out and initial feedback on our social media has been hugely positive.
“Every year a dedicated team of hard working volunteers create a special, memorable experience for thousands. It shows what magic can happen when people come together to create something good. Thank you so much to everyone who helped.”
If you thought now the festival was over the organisers would be toasting their success, then think again. Planning has already started on Nibley 2019, with the focus on building on the momentum of this year’s sell-out festival. Mark continued: “Next year’s Nibley Festival will take place on 5th and 6th July. As always, we’re determined to make each year better than the last.
“Our mission is the same as it was when we started 12 years ago: to deliver a unique, family friendly festival that continually delights and surprises – and also raises money for good causes.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
