The Subscription Rooms in Stroud will be welcoming one of the biggest names in the world of hip hop later this month.
Grandmaster Flash, one of the most innovative and pioneering musicians of the late twentieth century, will be playing the Subscription Rooms on 26th August. Considered to be one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time, Grandmaster Flash has been entertaining audiences all over the world for close to half a century. “We’re always working hard to book big name artists and we’re particularly excited to be hosting Grandmaster Flash later this month,” said Rex Gibbs, administrator at the popular entertainment venue.
He added: “Grandmaster Flash has been a massive name in the music world for decades. He’s known all over the world so to welcome him to the Subscription Rooms is a huge deal for us. We recently hosted another huge hip hop act -The Sugarhill Gang – which was another massive event for us. The reaction we received from people who attended was extremely positive and I’m sure many who attended that performance will be keen to see Grandmaster Flash in action later this month. We’ve a capacity of 450 seats and we expect the concert to be a sell out, so I’d encourage anyone who wants to come along to book tickets straight away.”
As well as hosting musical acts the Subscription Rooms will also be running several workshops throughout the summer holidays. Rex continued: “we’ve got plenty on throughout August including two magic workshops run by Gloucestershire-based magician Colin Dymond. During the workshop, children will learn a variety of tricks using everyday objects that they can perform to amaze their friends. Not only are they taught how to do the trick but also how to perform it.
“Early next month we’re very excited to be hosting the Magic of Motown show. The tribute show will perform music from Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops and many other legendary acts. The Magic of Motown act is recognised as being one of the most popular tribute bands in the world, we’re very happy to host them on what promises to be a fantastic evening for music lovers.
“The following day we’ll be welcoming the Friary Guildford Band, who have been London & Southern Counties Regional Champions for the past three years running. They form part of our brass band season, there will be six bands appearing here in total.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
