The Cotswold Male Voice Choir will get the opportunity to sing in front of a large crowd when they perform at Tewkesbury in Bloom next Wednesday.
The acclaimed vocal group will be performing at Victoria Gardens as part of the Tewkesbury in Bloom, an annual event that sees the town centre transformed with colourful flowers and plants. “Every single one of us has been looking forward to this performance for a long time,” said Richard Bennett, Chairman of the choir. “Another choir – The Roses’ Choir from Tewkesbury – will be singing as well so it will be a great occasion for the town to see two local choirs perform on what will be a fabulous occasion,” he added.
The Roses’ Choir get things underway at 11am, they will be followed by the Cotswold Male Voice Choir who are due to start their performance at 11:20am. Continued Richard: “We’ll be singing half a dozen well-known songs including ‘Sweet Caroline’, ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight?’ and ‘Love Is All Around’. Rehearsals have gone to plan, so it’s just a case of focusing on our performance now and putting on the best show possible.”
The Cotswold Male Voice Choir have a long and proud history. Formed in 1949, the choir have developed into one of the leading vocal groups in the county, and regularly perform at venues across Gloucestershire. Continued Richard: “There’s 43 of us in the choir with a real mix of ages represented. We rehearse every Wednesday, we always enjoy ourselves. It’s not just about the singing, being part of a choir is a bit like being part of a football or a rugby team, everyone looks out for each other and you feel part of a team.
“We’ve got a busy time of it this summer. After our performance in Tewkesbury on Wednesday we’ll be singing at a few weddings in late August and early September which is something to look forward to. Looking further ahead we’ll be travelling to Ilfracombe in early October for a concert performance alongside the Ilfracombe Male Voice Choir, that will be a very special performance.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
