Following the success of the first pop up cinema series in February, The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum is hosting a second film series this month, bringing a unique pop up cinema experience to Cheltenham.
The second film series of 2019 is themed to coincide with the current exhibition on display at The Wilson, ‘The Art of Selling Songs’ – a touring exhibition from the V&A exploring the transformation of music marketing across three centuries.
The display features 80 objects from the V&A’s collections, including items from iconic bands and graphic artists such as The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Royal Blood and more.
The May film series at The Wilson features four musical films; ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, ‘Bob Dylan: Don’t Look Back’, ‘This is Spinal Tap’ and ‘Coco’, which will also include a pre-film silent disco.
All tickets bought for any of the films will also include free entry into The Art of Selling Songs exhibition.
In February, The Wilson screened a selection of films under the theme of ‘Endurance’, to coincide with the exhibition then on display at The Wilson, ‘The Enduring Eye’ – a photographic exhibition of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s epic Antarctic expedition of 1914-17.
The Wilson will also host two films and a workshop in conjunction with Cheltenham International Film Festival.
